Wachovia Wells Fargo Achievement Award
The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation honors the recipient of the annual Award for VHCF Alumna Achievement. This award recognizes the most exceptional VHCF graduates -- organizations with a commitment to quality and excellence, an entrepreneurial spirit backed by solid business practices and, most importantly, a strong desire to make a lasting difference improving access to health care in their communities.
The organization winning this award also received $10,000 made possible by The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation. The award is presented at VHCF's annual Heroes in Health Care event.
VHCF is proud of both the achievements and the sustainability of its current and past grantees. Remarkably, 89 percent of Virginia Health Care Foundation projects continue to deliver at or above the same level of service for at least three years after graduating from VHCF funding.
2010 Wachovia Wells Fargo Achievement Award
Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services, Inc. (ANHSI) received the 2010 award, which is presented each year to a former VHCF grantee that demonstrates growth, sustainable business practices, and an entrepreneurial spirit. A $10,000 cash award from the Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation accompanies this award.
ANHSI provides medical, dental, and mental health services to the uninsured in Alexandria. Since 1996, ANHSI has grown from 4 full-time staff to more than 50, and has provided almost 200,000 health care visits to more than 61,000 children, women and men.
