2002 Lloyd F. Moss Free Clinic
It is quite a normal occurrence for the Virginia Health Care Foundation to help fund the addition of nurse practitioners to clinics in order to increase their service capacities. However, Lloyd F. Moss Free Clinic utilized their grant to its fullest extent.
Not only have patients and visits increased but they have been able to track the total health improvements they have seen. With an original tracking system the clinic has seen a drop in smoking among their patients, better cholesterol and blood pressure levels as well as better diabetic control.
With the addition of a nurse practitioner, patient visits increased 175%. And with the nurse practitioner caring for the chronically ill, the clinic’s volunteer physicians can see more patients with acute problems.
All of this success has lead to exceptional community support. Remarkably, all five local governments now include the clinic in their budgets, and MediCorp Health System has increased its commitment.
Lloyd F. Moss Free Clinic received a Virginia Health Care Foundation award for outstanding alumna for the impact they made on the City of Fredericksburg and surrounding counties.
