Patricia Morrell
Peninsula Agency on Aging
Mrs. Pat Morell, has helped hundreds of homebound seniors as a volunteer driver for the Peninsula Agency on Aging’s Med Tran Program.
Few things can stop this remarkable woman. As MedTran volunteer, Pat has logged more than 4,000 miles carrying clients to their medical appointments. She uses a specially equipped car that helps her overcome the limitations of spina bifida.
Pat is far more than a driver for each of her clients, however, she phones them to make sure they are ok, and even takes them out for dinner on occasion to cheer them up!
Although Pat could be reimbursed for her gas costs, she refuses to accept any payment, wanting as much as possible to go to the program.
A tireless advocate for MedTran, her gentle persuasion also paved the way for a grant of $46,000 from the United Way and helped secure a feature article in the local paper.
“Her kindness, her dedication, her bright, happy, optimistic attitude, and selflessness are never ending!”
