Sandy Sayre, FNP
The Rescue Mission
The Rescue Mission’s on-site health center for the homeless is part of an expansion that began in 2002. The clinic is directed by Sandy Sayre, a Family Nurse Practitioner, who coordinates a corps of volunteer health professionals and provides direct care to homeless patients.
From the initial idea of the clinic to the opening of its doors, Sandy has played a key role in the clinic’s “birth.” In its first six months of operation, there have been more than 1,611 patient visits. For many of these people, it is the first time they have received health care in decades.
“Sandy is a dedicated, passionate, intelligent, organized, and kind person. Not only does she work hard and smart, she inspires others to do so. She models…and others follow.”
“Sandy is a person of vision and perseverance and has made a difference in the lives of homeless individuals in the Roanoke Valley who now have a place to go for their routine health care needs.”
