Are you uninsured? Or, if you have insurance, does it only count medical care and NOT prescription medicines? If so, check out the drug discount cards and programs on the table at the bottom of this page.

Before enrolling in one of these cards or programs be sure to look at

• cost – review what, if any, fees you will have to pay to enroll,
• coverage – see if the program covers the medicines you need,
• convenience – does it cover mail-order prescriptions only or is there is a nearby participating pharmacy, and
• savings — would the potential savings offset the fees/costs involved.

Also, because many of the drug discount cards and programs cover name brand name medicines only, it may be wise to compare costs of the generic equivalent against the discounted brand name medication (if you and your physician determine that the generic is an acceptable alternative.
