Mt. Rogers Medication Assistance Program
The Mt. Rogers Medication Assistance Program (MAP) is a partnership of nine service sites in the Mt. Rogers Planning District (PD3) in Southwest Virginia. Each of the community partners has medication assistance case workers on staff who use The Pharmacy Connection to help access free medications for uninsured individuals. The Virginia Department of Social Services provides $200,000 annually to support the nine positions.
In FY06, this program provided 4,706 uninsured Virginians with over 40,722 prescriptions valued at $10.7 million (average wholesale price). The return on the investment of $200,000 in state funds is an astounding $53 to $1!
