RxPartnership (RxP) is a non-profit initiative that helps thousands of eligible uninsured Virginians obtain the medications they need -- both quickly and free of charge. RxP acts as a broker between the pharmaceutical companies’ Patient Assistance Programs and pharmacies run by community-based clinics.
RxPartnership solicits free medications in bulk from pharmaceutical companies and arranges for their distribution directly to non-profit, licensed affiliate pharmacies which it credentials and monitors. These pharmacies are typically operated by free clinics and community health centers.
RxP was established as a public private partnership by the Virginia Health Care Foundation, the General Assembly’s Joint Commission on Health Care, the Medical Society of Virginia, and a host of other organizations. GlaxoSmithKline, the first company to sign on to the Partnership, has already provided over $3.8 million in free prescription medications to uninsured Virginians.

| Brokering Increased Access to Free Medications for Virginia's Uninsured |
|
Rx Partnership is a win-win for all involved - patients, pharmaceutical
manufacturers, community health providers and the Commonwealth of
Virginia.
“Participation in the Rx Partnership is having a major positive impact on
the patients we serve," said Suzanne Sheridan, Executive Director,
Rockbridge Area Free Clinic, Lexington, VA.
"Through the Partnership
we have access to medications we could not get previously; important
drugs in the treatment of asthma, diabetes and infection, to name a few.
Not only are we able to provide better care for the patients we serve but
the door is open to assist more people in the growing number of
medically uninsured and underinsured." |
