To help address the growing need for prescription medications, Governor Kaine and Virginia's General Assembly have appropriated funds to VHCF to create and expand local Medication Assistance Programs (MAPs) throughout the Commonwealth.
Through this initiative, RxRelief Virginia, local MAPs help qualifying, uninsured individuals who have chronic illnesses obtain free brand name prescription medicines using VHCF's The Pharmacy Connection software.
In addition to the RxRelief Virginia sites, the Greater Williamsburg MAP, funded by the Williamsburg Community Health Foundation and administered by VHCF, provides medication access to eligible individuals at seven locations.
RxRelief Virginia grantees are providing medication assistance to Virginians in 70 localities statewide. Many other locations across Virginia operate medication assistance programs using VHCF's The Pharmacy Connection software. Contact your local free clinic, community health center, or other health care provider to determine if it participates.
