Maryview Foundation Healthcare Center
Through an RxRelief Virginia grant from the Virginia Health Care Foundation, the Maryview Foundation Healthcare Center employed a Medication Assistance Caseworker (MAC) to assist eligible individuals with accessing medicines from pharmaceutical companies’ patient assistance programs at little to no cost via VHCF’s Pharmacy Connection software.

Funding from VHCF has enabled the Bon Secours Maryview Foundation Healthcare Center to expand its services to meet the medical needs of the growing number of uninsured patients in Portsmouth by underwriting the salary of a full-time nurse practitioner.

Meadowview Health Clinic
A $150,000 VHCF capital grant helped finance the construction of the new health center in downtown Meadowview. The health center, which opened in 2007, offers primary care services to the residents of the community, many of whom are uninsured and without a regular source of care.

Medical Society of Virginia Foundation
DOC RxRelief helps Virginians without prescription insurance coverage obtain the medications they need, free-of-charge. The program assists private practice physicians in navigating pharmaceutical company application processes for donation of prescribed medications. A full-time Patient Advocate using VHCF's The Pharmacy Connection (TPC) software directly assists patients with the application process. This program benefits both patients and private physician practices.

Mendota Community Association Health Clinic
A grant from VHCF helped fund construction of this rural health clinic for residents of western Washington and Scott counties.

Mental Health Association of the New River Valley
Through a VHCF grant, this mental health association was able to expand its Pro Bono Counseling Program for uninsured adults suffering from minor mental health disorders. It did so by utilizing post graduate, license-eligible 'trainees,' supervised by credentialed providers, to provide urgently needed mental health services.

Monroe Health Center - Craig County Health Center
VHCF funding enabled the Monroe Health Center to establish a satellite community health center and school wellness site in New Castle, Virginia. The initiative is a partnership with the Monroe Health Center and the Craig County Rural Health Care Corporation. The most recent funding for the health center was provided by VHCF to help support its Caring for the Community mental health program.

Mountain Empire Older Citizens, Inc.
“Pharmacy Connect of Southwest Virginia” is a medication access program run by Mountain Empire Older Citizens (MEOC), an area agency on aging. Pharmacy Connect is open to all eligible residents of Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Tazewell, and Wise Counties and the city of Norton, regardless of age. With the assistance of funds from the Commonwealth of Virginia, MEOC has hired Medication Assistance Caseworkers who use VHCF’s Pharmacy Connection software to access and distribute free medications to uninsured individuals.
