VHCF funding has helped finance construction of new health care facility for the medically underserved residents of Lunenburg County, as well as funding to purchase, staff, and equip a mobile medical van to deliver essential primary health care services to homebound area residents. In addition, a VHCF grant supports the salary and benefits for the dentist at its new dental clinic in Lunenburg County.

Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems, based in Saltville, has received VHCF funding to support nurse practitioners at the Radford Center for Family Health, the Whitetop Community Health facility and the Meadowview Community Health Center. These VHCF grants allow patients to receive better continuity of care and chronic disease management. In addition to medical care, VHCF has expanded access to dental care through the Southwest Virginia Regional Dental Center.
