Stafford County Head Start
As a VHCF Project Connect grantee, Stafford County Head Start is helping enroll eligible, uninsured children from Stafford County in the state-sponsored health insurance programs for children, FAMIS and FAMIS Plus.
Project Connect grants are made possible with funding from the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services and the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation.

Among VHCF grants to SMHS were funding for the addition of a full-time dentist to provide preventive and restorative dental care to elementary school children Buchanan and Dickenson counties and interim funding of the Konnarock Medical Clinic during its transition to SMHS’ network of 14 medical, dental, and respiratory clinics.

Stony Creek Community Health Center
Residents in medically underserved Sussex County, eastern Dinwiddie County, western Prince George County and northern Greensville County have two physicians to meet their medical needs, thanks to grant support from the Virginia Health Care Foundation. By supporting physician salaries, VHCF has helped increase the number of patients who can be seen, reduce waiting room time, and improve continuity of care.

Tri-Area Community Health at Ferrum
VHCF funding enabled the Tri-Area Health Clinic to hire a physician for its satellite Ferrum site, providing health care services to the residents of Ferrum and surrounding areas.

Tri-Area Community Health at Ferrum MAP
Tri-Area Health Clinic was able to expand its current MAP program by using RxRelief Virginia funding to employ a Medication Assistance Caseworker (MAC) at the Ferrum Community Health Center. The MAC assists eligible individuals, primarily from Franklin County, by applying for free medications on their behalf from pharmaceutical companies’ patient assistance programs via VHCF's The Pharmacy Connection software.

United Way - Thomas Jefferson Area
Through support from the VHCF and Martha Jefferson Hospital, the United Way established an RxRelief Program to help the more than 30,000 uninsured Charlottesville area residents get the prescription medications they need to cope with chronic diseases.

UWTJA in Charlottesville received child health funding from VHCF to enroll eligible, uninsured children in health insurance programs. Outreach included the city of Charlottesville as well as Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, and Louisa Counties.

UVA/Greene County School Based Nursing Clinic
VHCF grant support helped this school-based primary care clinic serve thousands of area children. The clinic also serves as a clinical rotation site for UVA nursing students.
In addition, VHCF has funded a nurse practitioner development project at UVA to double the number of NP graduates and train them in underserved communities.
