Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services, Inc.

Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services, Inc. expanded its Medication Assistance Program by using RxRelief Virginia funding from VHCF. The funds helped ANHSI add a full-time Medication Assistance Caseworker (MAC) to assist eligible individuals primarily from Alexandria City and Arlington and Fairfax counties. Free medications are obtained by the MAC from pharmaceutical companies’ patient assistance programs via The Pharmacy Connection software provided by VHCF.

VHCF has provided a number of grants to this community health provider. Grants have included start-up funds for the Arlandria Health Center which provides accessible primary and preventive health services to medically indigent Hispanic women and children in the City of Alexandria, as well as funding to hire an additional physician for the Adult Medicine Clinic and support for Clinical Mental Health Services for El Centro Familiar. The most recent VHCF grant for ANHSI is to help underwrite the salary and benefits of a part-time physician to provide primary medical care to uninsured and medically underserved patients of the center’s Adult Medicine Clinic.

Other VHCF support, through Project Connect, has helped ANHSI enroll eligible children and mothers from Arlington and Alexandria in FAMIS, Virginia’s maternal and child health insurance programs.
