Resources for Providers

Whether you're just starting out or looking to relocate or expand, there are a variety of resources available to providers interested in Virginia's underserved communities.  The need for providers is greater than ever and the rewards can be immeasurable.  Find out more:

Assistance, Incentives and Job Opportunities:

The Commonwealth of Virginia offers incentive programs that will repay outstanding medical education debt in exchange for medical service in a medically underserved area. The purpose of the Loan Repayment Programs is to increase access in Virginia's underserved areas to primary care services.  Find out more about Virginia's loan repayment programs.

The National Health Service Corps offers Loan Repayment Programs for providers working in select communities. NHSC’s website also has a listing of job openings in underserved communities across the county.

The Virginia Community Healthcare Association (formerly known as the Virginia Primary Care Association) is the membership organization for all of the Community Health Centers in Virginia. There is a listing of job opportunities at Virginia’s Community Health Care Centers on their site: www.vacommunityhealth.org.

The Virginia Health Care Foundation's Healthy Communities Loan Fund helps providers locate or expand services in underserved areas.

In addition, AHECs, the Virginia Statewide Area Health Education Centers, promote health careers and access to primary care for medically underserved  populations through community-academic partnerships. They can be reached at www.ahec.vcu.edu/ahecs (804) 828-7639.
