Community Health Centers are located in areas of Virginia that do not have enough providers (underserved areas).  They provide primary care to anyone regardless of income or insurance, typically  on a sliding fee schedule. (Find a Community Health Center near you.)

• The Commonwealth of Virginia offers incentive programs that will repay outstanding medical education debt in exchange for medical service in a medically underserved area. The purpose of the Loan Repayment Programs is to increase access in Virginia's underserved areas to primary care services.  Find out more about Virginia's loan repayment programs.

• The National Health Service Corps offers Loan Repayment Programs for providers working in select communities. NHSC’s website also has a listing of job openings in underserved communities across the county.

• The Virginia Community Healthcare Association (formerly known as the Virginia Primary Care Association) is the membership organization for all of the Community Health Centers in Virginia. There is a listing of job opportunities at Virginia’s Community Health Care Centers on their site: www.vacommunityhealth.org.

• The VHCF Healthy Communities Loan Fund helps providers locate or expand services in underserved areas.
