Health Care Champions Awards: Call for Nominations!

VHCF is celebrating more than 30 years of expanding access to primary care for uninsured and medically underserved Virginians, and we will be honoring those who make that work possible at our 2026 Cheers! for Champions award event this spring in Richmond.

As part of the awards program, we’ll reflect on the transformational impact of the past 30+ years and share a vision for the next era. Your nomination helps tell that story.

Eligible nominees include:

  • Licensed oral, behavioral health or medical professionals employed by or volunteering at the nominating organization
  • Individuals employed by the nominating organization who support or lead oral, behavioral, or medical care programs
  • Nominees must work/volunteer in an organization that serves uninsured or medically underserved Virginians

Nominations must be submitted via this form no later than February 27thOnly ONE nomination per organization, please. 

  • Award recipients will be selected by an independent panel of high-level healthcare leaders from the public and private sectors.
  • A strong nomination clearly and compellingly describes the nominee’s accomplishments, with specific examples of how the nominee’s work has increased or transformed access to care for the patients your organization serves, care delivery, or systems of care.
  • Nominations may be submitted by colleagues, supervisors, community leaders, organizational partners, or others familiar with the nominee’s work.
  • The nomination narrative should be no more than 400 words.

Award and Recognition 

  • Each award is $5,000. Half will be given to the nominating organization and half will go to the individual(s) selected.
  • Winners will be recognized at our in-person event in Richmond this spring. More details to come!
