VHCF funds local Project Connect application assisters/outreach workers who help individuals and families apply for, enroll in, and renew eligibility for Virginia’s Medicaid/FAMIS programs. Project Connect assisters can help with completing Medicaid/FAMIS applications and renewals, navigating eligibility and enrollment processes, and answering questions about Medicaid and FAMIS. Information on Project Connect Grants:

Project Connect grants are made possible with funding from the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services and the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. These grants:

• Target areas of the state with high populations of uninsured individuals/families.
• Can be used only to help increase enrollment and retention Medicaid/FAMIS.
• Can be applied for only via special Requests For Proposals (RFPs) as new funds become available.
• Require applicants to also meet all general VHCF eligibility requirements.

While VHCF’s existing grantees continue to make record progress enrolling individuals/families in Medicaid/FAMIS, no new grants are being made at this time.

VHCF will issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs) as funds become available.
