Free and Charitable Clinics
Free and Charitable Clinics
Here at the Virginia Health Care Foundation, we DO NOT provide healthcare services. We work with and support the free and charitable clinics and community health centers that DO provide care.
Free and charitable clinics provide low-income, uninsured Virginians with free or low-cost health services (some also provide dental or mental health care). To find a free or charitable clinic, check out the Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinic website.
Free and charitable clinics depend on the generosity of volunteer physicians, nurses, dentists and other health professionals. They also rely on community support, and benefit from grants from foundations like the Virginia Health Care Foundation to help them expand services and care for more patients. They do not receive federal or state funding.
What kind of care can I get at a Free and Charitable Clinic?
All of Virginia’s free and charitable clinics provide basic health care services and help patients get free or low-cost prescription medications. Some also provide dental services and/or mental health care.
